Zune 80 Red mini review!
Hardware:
Here it is:
As you can see, it comes with all the hardware you need to start out. I wish it would come with a cloth case or something to put it in, but what they don't need to put in the box to make it work they won't put in. A wall plug would be nice also.
As I said, all the hardware you need is in the box, the software you still need to download from zune.net to get your media on it.
Front view, nice looking screen. The touch pad works great, it does take a minute to get used to it. I have not tried the radio option, I live in the rockies and radio signals and mountains are not a good mix.
I am glad that I could get it in red, I am not a big fan of everything being shades of gray (black, silver etc...).
Top view: headphone/composite out jack (for video) and hold button.
Rear view: not much going on here.
Bottom View: just the USB connection.
Headphones: here they are, they do come with extra ear pieces, the ones that were on them
worked fine of me.
Software:
Here is a shot of the main page. The software works, but it does take a little of setting up and learning how to use it. You will need to point it to the folders you want to sync if you do not use the windows defaults. I would also take note that if you have it setup for sync all on a certain file type (music, video, or picture) and you remove it from that folder, it will take if off your Zune automatically. I have read that people don't like the rating system on the software and would like stars, to me it makes no difference.
The sync process is fast when it comes to music, but video conversion is another matter. I would recommend something like Cucusoft Video Converter and convert your files with that then sync them. I have a MCE PC that records shows and then I run Cucusoft Video Converter then put them in a video folder for sync to my Zune. You can also use this software to put DVDs on your Zune for those long trips.
The wireless sync option is not used as of right now. When I do try it I will post a quick update of that feature.
I do not like that you need to have a MS live ID for the software, but everything online needs a user name, so that is life.
Yes I did get Zune Pass, I think that this is a great way of getting music. If you really want a CD of the music, go out and buy it. I like to hear it first then if I like it I will buy it.
Conclusion:
Would I buy one again, yes.
The battery life is great, charged it for two hours and ran it for 5 with the indicator barley moved. Sound quality is great, even without having and EQ.
What I would do different:

What I would do different:
- Mac support, get those IPOD users over to the MS side
- Matte finish screen to keep finger prints off
- Mini CDROM with the software for those people stuck in the 90's with slow internet so they can get going.
- include 14 trial of Zune Pass
- confirmation of removal of media from Zune
- EQ for people who like to turn up the BASS

1. No GPS option
2. No auto headlight option
